HEY! Thank you for popping by my website. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to explore emmalilico.com!
This post will be a bit of a brain dump of 'getting to know me and my content', until I decide what this blog space should consist of. My aim for it will be to be covering the gap between my full time career, and my content creation career, and the lessons I have learned balancing the two. I would love to share my mistakes and the value it gave me, in the hope that it gives others an idea of pitfalls to avoid, or just the knowledge that they aren't alone.
I should also mention that my copy has, and always will be, short and to the point. If you want a wordy blog to read, I'm probably not the home for you. But if you want quick tips, quick answers and quick morning reads, let's be friends :)
A bit more background
I began my vision for my future thinking I was very much going to be a dino girl. Ross in Friends probably influenced that decision very heavily. I then decided I wanted to be a hairdresser... lawyer... fashion designer... basically I strive to be a jack of all trades at all times, and am always trying to cut back.
At School I perused the fashion route, but with the vision of being a textile designer for tv / film costume departments. I thought that I could manage a lift of poverty as it would be rewarding - so off I went to Leeds Uni to study Textiles! After I graduated, however, and was applying for jobs on a measly £16,000 in LONDON (!!!!) I decided that it was entirely impractical. I didn't grow up with wealth or the opportunity to rely on my family for financial support, so I followed in my Mum's footsteps of the PR and Marketing route.
5 years later, I have worked across events, finance, medical, legal, and back to events again. This time running the social media for MCM Comic Con and EGX! I am proud to say that I have worked for some huge names, and have a Chartered Institute of Marketing Level 6 qualification, and will be working my way towards being chartered in the next couple of years.
"I'M NOT HERE TO READ YOUR CV EMMA!"
I know - sorry. Career runs in my blood. The whole time I have been working, I have been creating content as a content creator outside of work. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions, and continues to be on a daily basis, but I love that I have the opportunity to meet and spend time with people like me from across the globe. Not many people can say that.
I am always striving to find a balance between building this community and finding time to relax, whilst obviously prioritising my full time career, but I am aiming to share some of my experiences on this blog for those that prefer the written format, and create YouTube videos for those that prefer video.
